300hr FAQ
Who is eligible to enroll in the 300-hour training?
Our 300-hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training is designed for individuals who have already completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training program and are ready to deepen their knowledge, refine their teaching methodology, and expand their professional capabilities.
You do not need to be actively teaching to enroll. Whether you’re an experienced instructor or a recent graduate, this program welcomes teachers who approach their education with curiosity, humility, and a genuine desire to grow.
What makes this 300-hour program different?
Our program is built around the belief that advanced education should do more than provide additional information. It should fundamentally deepen how we understand, practice, and teach yoga.
Through a combination of traditional yogic studies, contemporary scientific understanding, experiential learning, and individualized mentorship, trainees develop the knowledge and discernment necessary to teach with greater confidence, adaptability, and integrity.
Rather than encouraging a single teaching methodology, we create space for teachers to discover their individual strengths while remaining grounded in the history, philosophy, and traditions of yoga.
How does the mentorship program work?
Mentorship is one of the foundational elements of our 300-hour training.
Each trainee is paired with an experienced trainer who provides individualized guidance throughout the program. Rather than expecting trainees to know exactly where they want their teaching career to go, our mentorship process encourages thoughtful exploration.
Their mentor helps them connect their studies to their teaching, challenge assumptions, identify opportunities for growth, and develop a meaningful final practicum.
The mentorship process includes three dedicated individual meetings, alongside guided reflections and continued support throughout training.
Our intention is not to shape every trainee into the same kind of teacher, but to help each individual cultivate their own voice, professional discernment, and relationship with the practice.

Thursday Evening Training:
Select Thursday evenings
6:00 PM – 10:00 PM
In-person attendance, with the option to attend virtually.
Training takes place over approximately six months, with scheduled breaks between training weekends to allow time for integration, personal practice, and continued study.
A detailed calendar will be provided to enrolled trainees.
Is attendance mandatory? What happens if I miss training hours?
Because this is an advanced teacher training, consistent attendance and active participation are essential.
All required training hours must be completed to graduate.
We understand that unexpected circumstances arise, and we have an established make-up process to support trainees who need to miss scheduled instruction.
Trainees who miss more than 36 hours will require an individual review with the Lead Trainer or Program Director to determine an appropriate path toward completion.
Once a trainee misses more than 36 hours, one-on-one make-up instruction will be required at $125 per hour.
The hours that are missed prior to the 36 hours will still require a method to obtain the material missed and may involve some of the requirements below
-
Completing an assigned written or experiential project
-
Participating in additional approved teaching or practice
-
Homework assignment of the material missed
Make-up requirements are determined according to the content and number of hours missed.
Our goal is to maintain the integrity of your education while recognizing that life doesn’t always follow a perfect schedule.
Can I take individual modules without enrolling in the full 300-hour program?
Yes!
We recognize that not every yoga teacher is looking to complete an additional 300-hour certification.
Select modules and lectures will be available individually for teachers interested in continuing education.
Eligible offerings may provide Yoga Alliance continuing education hours.

Do Black Swan Yoga graduates receive a discount?
Yes!
As a thank-you to our community of graduates, students who have completed their 200-hour teacher training with Black Swan Yoga receive $1,000 off tuition.

This brings your tuition from $4,500 to $3,500, including the full training experience and two years of yoga membership.
We are honored to continue supporting our graduates as their relationship with teaching evolves.
Do I need to know what I want to specialize in before enrolling?
Not at all. In fact, discovering that direction is part of the experience.
Our curriculum is intentionally designed to introduce trainees to a wide range of subjects and teaching methodologies.
You may enter training interested in anatomy and discover a passion for adaptive yoga. You may begin with an interest in advanced asana and find yourself increasingly drawn toward philosophy, meditation, or nervous system education.
Through guided reflection and mentorship, you’ll have the opportunity to recognize which subjects genuinely resonate with you and how they might influence your future teaching.
Will this training qualify me for RYT 500 registration?
Our 300-hour program is designed to build upon the foundational education received in a 200-hour yoga teacher training.
Graduates who have completed an eligible RYS 200 program and our 300-hour program may qualify to apply for RYT 500 registration with Yoga Alliance, provided the 300-hour training is registered as an RYS 300 and all applicable Yoga Alliance requirements are met.
Registration with Yoga Alliance is a separate process and is subject to its current eligibility requirements.
What can I expect to walk away with?
Our intention is not simply to provide another certification.
We want our graduates to leave with a deeper understanding of the human body, a more nuanced relationship with traditional yoga, stronger teaching methodology, and the ability to approach their work with greater curiosity and professional responsibility.
You’ll develop practical skills, meaningful relationships with experienced mentors, and a completed teaching offering that reflects your individual interests and growth.
Perhaps most importantly, we hope you leave with a renewed appreciation for the depth of this practice and the understanding that becoming an exceptional teacher is not about knowing everything.
It’s about developing the humility, curiosity, and discernment to remain a student throughout your teaching career.
